Bigger than Big

Watching Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking on SBS is a painful experience. Surely hyperbole is not required to make physics interesting. Fortunately, this broadcast was followed by the short but excellent Bigger than Big (only a teaser here):

Kudos to Swinburne University! I will now spend time looking though their other productions.

  1. Totally agree about the Stephen Hawking series. This sensationalist style -- punctuated with frequent ad-breaks followed by lengthy recaps helping to pad out the episode while minimising information content -- seems to be a hallmark of documentaries made for US cable stations. Morgan Freeman's "Through the Wormhole" was even worse.

I did enjoy Brian Cox's "Wonders of the Solar System", though I couldn't help thinking about how much adventure holidaying he seemed to pack in (presumably on the BBC's dime).
